  • Bank card insurance generally offers basic protection with low limits (usually €30,000 to €150,000 for medical expenses) and restrictions (payment required with the card, maximum 90-day duration). For better protection, especially for long stays or remote destinations, dedicated insurance is recommended.
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical expenses and repatriation is mandatory, valid in all Schengen countries for your entire stay.
  • No, insurance must be purchased before departure, generally at least 24 to 48 hours before the departure date.
  • Most policies include COVID-19 coverage for medical expenses and repatriation, but COVID-19-related cancellation may have specific conditions.
