FAQ

What people ask about the BMO Air Miles Mastercard

  • No. The no-fee BMO Air Miles Mastercard carries no travel insurance of any kind — there is no emergency medical, trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip or baggage delay, lost baggage or common carrier travel accident coverage. If you travel, you need to buy a separate travel insurance policy. (For travel coverage from a BMO Air Miles card, the BMO Air Miles World Elite Mastercard is the version that includes it.)
  • No. There is no out-of-country emergency medical coverage on this card. A hospital stay or medical evacuation abroad can cost well over $100,000, so travellers should arrange standalone emergency medical travel insurance.
  • No. This card does not provide a collision/loss damage waiver for rental cars. You would have to accept the rental agency's CDW (typically $20–$30 per day) or rely on a separate policy.
  • Two purchase-related benefits only: Purchase Security (covers theft or accidental damage to most new items for 90 days from purchase) and Extended Warranty (doubles the manufacturer's warranty by up to one additional year). They share a combined lifetime maximum of $60,000 per cardholder.
  • It automatically doubles the original manufacturer's warranty, up to a maximum of one extra year, on eligible items charged to the card. The manufacturer's warranty must be valid in Canada, and you must get approval from Allianz Global Assistance before any repair.
  • No. Unlike some other cards, the no-fee BMO Air Miles Mastercard has no mobile device / cellphone protection. A phone bought with the card is only covered by the standard 90-day Purchase Security against theft or accidental damage, not by a dedicated device policy.
  • Purchase Security and Extended Warranty are underwritten by Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Company (Canadian Branch) and administered by AZGA Service Canada Inc., operating as Allianz Global Assistance.
  • Call Allianz Global Assistance at 1-877-704-0341 (toll-free in Canada and the U.S.) or +1-519-741-0782 (collect from elsewhere), keep your receipts and the credit card statement, get approval before any repair, and submit the claim form to the Operations Centre c/o Allianz Global Assistance in Waterloo, ON, or file online at allianz-assistance.ca.
