Expert review · Pauline LauroreAuthor of HelloSafe's card insurance reviews

The United Club Infinite is one of the strongest travel insurance packages available on a US credit card. Trip cancellation reimburses up to $10,000 per covered traveler when illness, weather, or another covered reason forces a cancellation. Trip delay kicks in after 12 hours with up to $500 per traveler for meals and lodging. Emergency evacuation covers transport to the nearest hospital and repatriation up to $1,000,000 when you are more than 100 miles from home on a trip of 5 to 60 days. The evacuation benefit must be coordinated through the card's service provider in advance. Baggage delay pays $100 per day for up to 3 days after a 6-hour wait. Lost luggage reimburses up to $3,000 per traveler. Travel Accident Insurance pays up to $500,000 on common carrier travel and $100,000 on 24-hour travel accidents. The main gaps are hospital fees abroad, which this card does not cover, and missed connections.

What works on travel
  • Trip cancellation up to $10,000 per traveler for covered reasons including illness, weather, and death
  • Trip delay coverage up to $500 per traveler after a 12-hour delay

  • Baggage delay and lost luggage reimbursement both included
  • Travel Accident Insurance up to $500,000 (Common Carrier) and $100,000 (24-hour)
Where travel breaks down
  • No emergency medical coverage for hospital fees abroad
  • No missed connection benefit
  • Trip delay threshold is 12 hours, which is higher than some competing premium cards
  • Emergency evacuation must be pre-authorized by the service provider or costs are not covered
  • Pre-existing conditions excluded from trip cancellation (60-day look-back)
