Our Verdict · Travel Insurance
No trip cancellation. No emergency medical. No travel protection at all on this card. You're booking a $4,500 international business trip on this card and planning to rely on it for emergencies. Here is the reality the Guide to Benefits spells out: the Travel and Emergency Assistance service connects you with providers by phone. It does not reimburse anything. Most cardholders assume a no-fee business card carries at least some trip cancellation or emergency medical coverage. It does not. Standalone travel insurance covering $100,000 in emergency medical plus trip cancellation runs $60 to $120 for a one-week business trip. If you travel internationally without a separate policy, every medical bill, canceled flight, and delayed bag comes entirely out of pocket.
Every score is derived from official bank documents: terms and conditions, benefit guides, and claim procedures. No commercial relationship influences our ratings.

MasterRental CDW worked, but paperwork was extensive
Used the MasterRental CDW benefit after a minor collision on a Denver business rental. Filed through cardbenefitservices.com within the 45-day window. Needed the rental agreement front and back, the agency damage report, repair photos, and the card statement showing the full rental charge. Since coverage is secondary, I had to file with my personal auto insurance first and get their response letter before the card would pay. Total process took about six weeks from the incident. Approval was clean once everything was submitted. For a free business card, it works if you have patience for the paperwork.

No medical coverage abroad, found out mid-emergency
Used this card for a business trip to Europe. Had a medical issue that required urgent care. Called the Travel and Emergency Assistance line and they gave me names of clinics nearby, which was useful. But the card paid nothing toward the bill. The $800 urgent care visit was entirely mine. I had assumed a Bank of America business card would have at least basic emergency medical coverage. It does not. The guide lists six benefits: MasterRental, purchase protection, ID theft monitoring, global service, easy savings, and extended warranty. Emergency medical is not among them.

Purchase Security claim denied due to carrier exclusion
Filed a Purchase Security claim after a business laptop was damaged inside my checked bag on a flight. The claim was denied because damage that occurs while a common carrier has control of an item is excluded. I appealed, arguing the damage was discovered after I retrieved the bag, but the adjuster applied the exclusion anyway. Three weeks of back and forth with no resolution. The 90-day window combined with the carrier exclusion leaves a real gap: damage to items in transit, where damage is most likely to happen, is not covered.
