Our opinion on Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Travel Insurance

Pauline Laurore
Expert review · Pauline LauroreAuthor of HelloSafe's card insurance reviews

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold covers the basics and not much more on the travel insurance front. Baggage delay pays $100/day for up to 3 days when checked luggage is held for more than 6 hours. Lost luggage reimburses up to $3,000 per covered traveler — New York residents are capped at $2,000 per bag. Travel Accident Insurance provides up to $500,000 for accidental death or dismemberment on covered transit, plus $100,000 for 24-hour travel accidents. Everything else is missing: no trip cancellation, no medical coverage abroad, no trip delay. Travel & Emergency Assistance connects you to referrals around the clock but covers no actual costs.

FAQ

What people ask about the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold

  • Visit chasecardbenefits.com or call 1-800-349-2634. For most benefits, report the incident within 20 days and submit all documentation within 90 days. Keep your card statement, original receipts, and any carrier or police reports.
  • Call 1-800-349-2634 in the United States, available 24/7. If you're outside the US, call collect at 001-214-503-2951. For Visa Signature concierge services, call 1-800-953-7392.
  • The card does not include travel medical insurance or trip cancellation, so pre-existing condition clauses do not apply. There is no reimbursement for medical expenses abroad or trip cancellation due to health reasons.
  • Inside the United States, coverage is secondary — your personal auto insurance pays first, and this card covers the remainder. Outside the United States, coverage is primary: the card pays before any other insurance applies. You must decline the rental company's CDW in both cases.
  • The card excludes trip cancellation, trip interruption, emergency medical coverage abroad, trip delay reimbursement, missed connection benefits, and evacuation or repatriation insurance. Travel & Emergency Assistance is available 24/7 but provides referrals only — all costs remain the cardholder's responsibility.
  • No. The Marriott Bonvoy Bold does not include trip cancellation or interruption coverage. For protection on non-refundable travel costs, you would need to purchase a separate travel insurance policy.
  • No. Trip delay reimbursement is not included in this card's Guide to Benefits. Travel insurance is limited to baggage delay (after a 6-hour wait, up to $100/day for 3 days) and lost luggage reimbursement (up to $3,000 per traveler).
  • The CDW covers collision damage, theft, loss-of-use charges, administrative fees, and towing to the nearest repair facility, up to $60,000. It does not cover liability, personal belongings in the vehicle, or injury to anyone. Exotic vehicles over $125,000, antique cars, motorcycles, and rentals over 31 days are excluded.
