FAQ

What people ask about the Bank of America Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card for Students

  • Limited travel coverage is included via the Visa Signature network. The card provides Baggage Delay Insurance for essential items when checked bags are delayed over 6 hours, Lost Luggage Reimbursement, and a $500,000 Travel Accident Insurance on common carriers paid with the card. There is no trip cancellation, no trip interruption, no emergency medical, and no evacuation coverage.
  • Yes, through Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver via Visa Signature. Coverage is up to $60,000 for theft or collision damage. In the United States, this is secondary coverage, meaning your personal auto insurance pays first. Outside the United States, coverage is primary. You must pay the rental in full with the card and decline the agency CDW at pickup. Maximum rental period is 31 consecutive days.
  • Two Visa Signature protections are included. Purchase Protection covers eligible new items against theft or accidental damage for 90 days after purchase. Extended Warranty Protection adds up to one additional year on qualifying manufacturer warranties. Both require the purchase to be made with the card. Exact per-claim limits should be confirmed on the official Bank of America benefits guide.
  • For rental car damage claims, call the Benefit Administrator at 1-800-348-8472 or visit eclaimsline.com. Report the incident as soon as possible and no later than 45 days from the date of occurrence. For travel and emergency assistance, call 1-800-508-1276 within the US or collect at 1-804-673-6498 internationally. Submit all required documentation within 90 days of the incident.
  • This card has no trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, emergency medical, or emergency evacuation coverage. There is no cell phone protection, price protection, return protection, or roadside assistance reimbursement (dispatch only, costs remain your responsibility). The rental CDW does not cover exotic vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, or passenger vans over 12 people. A 3% foreign transaction fee applies to all purchases outside the United States.
  • Yes. A 3% foreign transaction fee applies to all purchases made outside the United States. This applies to international travel purchases, online purchases from foreign merchants, and international currency transactions. This fee effectively cancels out the 1.5% to 3% cash back on any international purchase, making this card a poor choice for international travel or shopping.
  • You choose one category each month to earn 3% cash back: gas and EV charging stations, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores and pharmacies, or home improvement. The choice can be changed once per month. You also earn 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs and 1% on everything else. The combined 3% and 2% categories are capped at $2,500 in combined purchases per quarter, after which all purchases earn 1% until the next quarter.
  • Travel Accident Insurance of up to $500,000 is included via the Visa Signature network, underwritten by Chubb. Coverage applies for accidental death or dismemberment on common carriers including airplanes, trains, ferries, and buses. The full ticket price must be paid with the eligible card for coverage to apply.
  • Yes, two forms of baggage coverage are included via Visa Signature. Baggage Delay Insurance reimburses essential items such as clothing and toiletries if your checked baggage is delayed more than 6 hours by the carrier. Lost Luggage Reimbursement covers bags that are lost, stolen, or damaged by the carrier. Both require the ticket to be purchased with the card. Exact reimbursement limits should be verified in the official Bank of America benefits guide.
