Our take on travel insurance for the Crypto.com Visa

Pauline Laurore
Expert review · Pauline LauroreAuthor of HelloSafe's card insurance reviews

The Crypto.com Visa Card carries no travel insurance. It is a prepaid, reloadable Visa issued by Digital Commerce Bank with no certificate of insurance — no emergency medical, no trip cancellation or interruption, no flight or baggage delay, no lost-baggage and no travel-accident coverage. The lounge 'travel experiences' on higher CRO-staked tiers are a perk, not insurance.

Where travel breaks down
  • No emergency medical coverage abroad
  • No trip cancellation or interruption coverage
  • No flight/baggage delay or lost-baggage coverage
  • No travel-accident or hotel-theft coverage
  • No certificate of insurance exists for this card

Best for CRO holders

Rated 4.1/5. Praises zero issuance and monthly fee and spending 100+ auto-converted coins, but says it is "best for CRO holders who're already staking," with realistic mid-tier cashback of only 1-2%.

A surprisingly profitable six months

First-person six-month test: "this six-month experiment turned ordinary grocery trips, coffee runs, and a summer road trip into a surprisingly profitable adventure" — though gains hinged on CRO price appreciation and aren't guaranteed.

Worth it with the right tier

Rated 5.5/10 (Fair). "Crypto.com Visa Card is worth it with the right tier and funding plan, albeit there're some caveats" — high instant CRO rewards but a 3% foreign fee on lower tiers and conversion spreads.

FAQ

What people ask about the Crypto.com Visa

  • No. The Crypto.com Visa Card is a prepaid, reloadable Visa issued by Digital Commerce Bank and it carries no travel insurance — no emergency medical, trip cancellation/interruption, flight or baggage delay, lost-baggage or travel-accident coverage. There is no certificate of insurance for this card.
  • No. The card has no travel, rental car or purchase-protection insurance of any kind. Its only consumer safeguard is Visa's standard zero-liability fraud protection, which is a payment-network feature, not a card-insurance benefit.
  • Those perks appear only on higher tiers that require staking CRO, and they are travel perks (e.g. Priority Pass lounge access), not insurance. The base Midnight Blue card has neither. Crypto.com cut most travel-adjacent benefits back in 2022.
  • No. You would have no coverage from the card. For medical emergencies abroad, cancellation or interruption you would need a standalone travel insurance policy purchased before you travel.
  • No. There is no collision/loss damage waiver (CDW), liability, roadside or personal-effects coverage. If you rent a car you must buy the rental company's protection or hold a separate policy.
  • No. The card offers no purchase protection, extended warranty, mobile-device, price or return protection.
  • Funds loaded to the card are not CDIC insured. The card is issued by Digital Commerce Bank; review the Cardholder Agreement for the current terms on funds, fees and limits.
  • The Digital Commerce Bank Prepaid Cardholder Agreement (Midnight Blue) attached to this page sets out the fees, limits and terms. There is no insurance certificate because the card has no insurance program.
