How to file a claim

Contact the administrator first

Before any repair or replacement, contact Assurant online at cardbenefits.assurant.com or call 1-855-255-6050 (8 a.m.–8 p.m. ET, Mon–Fri). For mobile-device loss or theft, also notify your wireless carrier within 48 hours and the police within 7 days.

Open your claim on time

Purchase Assurance / Extended Warranty: notify immediately and provide proof of loss within 90 days. Mobile Device: notify within 14 days of the loss. Rental car: report the damage or theft promptly.

Gather your documents

Keep your card statement showing the charge, the original sales receipt, the rental agreement (for car claims), repair estimates, police/loss reports, and any other-insurance payout documents.

Submit and follow up

Complete and sign the claim form with the time, place, cause and amount of loss, submit the required documents and keep your originals. Benefits are paid in excess of any other insurance you hold.

  • Rental Car Collision/Loss Damage (CLD) covers damage to or theft of an eligible rental vehicle up to its actual cash value (vehicles up to $65,000), for rentals of 31 consecutive days or less. It does not include third-party liability, roadside assistance or coverage for personal belongings.
  • It is primary insurance — a valid claim is paid without first going through your personal auto policy. You must decline the rental agency's CDW/LDW and charge the full rental cost to the card.
  • Yes. Mobile Device Insurance covers a new phone or tablet bought with the card (or with all wireless bills charged to the card) against loss, theft, mechanical breakdown and accidental damage, up to $1,000. A 2%/month depreciation and a $25–$100 deductible apply, with a maximum of one claim per 12 months.
  • Purchase Assurance protects most new purchases against loss, theft or damage for 90 days, and Extended Warranty doubles the manufacturer's warranty by up to one year. Both are excess coverage and share one combined $60,000 lifetime maximum.
  • No. The insurance coverages are included with the Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard at no additional cost, and the card itself has a $0 annual fee.
