FAQ

What people ask about the MBNA True Line Mastercard

  • No. The True Line Mastercard carries no travel insurance — there is no emergency medical coverage abroad, no trip cancellation or interruption, no flight or baggage delay, no lost baggage and no travel accident coverage. It is a low-interest card, not a travel card, so you would need a separate travel insurance policy when you travel.
  • No. The card provides no rental car collision/loss damage waiver (CDW), no liability, no roadside assistance and no personal effects or personal accident coverage. The ~10% discount on the base rate at Avis or Budget is a price discount, not insurance.
  • Only two benefits: Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty. Both are provided by TD Home and Auto Insurance Company under group policy TGV012 and administered by Global Excel Management Inc.
  • When you charge the full cost of an eligible new item to your card, Purchase Assurance protects it against theft or damage for 90 days from the date of purchase, anywhere in the world. The item is repaired, replaced or reimbursed at the purchase price (excluding taxes), up to a lifetime maximum of $60,000 per account. Computers are limited to $1,000 per loss and jewellery/fine art to $500 per item.
  • Extended Warranty doubles the original manufacturer's warranty for repair services, up to one additional year, on eligible items charged in full to the card. Manufacturer's warranties of 5 years or less are covered automatically; longer warranties must be registered with the Operations Centre within one year of purchase.
  • The insurer is TD Home and Auto Insurance Company (MBNA is a division of The Toronto-Dominion Bank), under group policy TGV012. Claims and assistance are handled by Global Excel Management Inc. at 1-866-520-8827 (Canada/U.S.) or +1-519-742-9356 (collect, elsewhere).
  • Notify Global Excel as soon as you learn of a loss and within 30 days of the event by calling 1-866-520-8827. You'll receive a claim form within 15 days; return it with your proof of loss (including your receipts) within 90 days of the date the claim arises. Approved claims are paid within 60 days.
  • No. The True Line Mastercard has a $0 annual fee, and no separate fee is charged for the Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty benefits.
