This card does not include trip cancellation insurance. If you have to cancel a prepaid, non-refundable trip before departure for a covered reason, nothing is reimbursed — you would need a separate travel insurance policy.

Our Verdict · Travel Insurance
The RBC Cash Back Mastercard includes no travel insurance of any kind — no emergency medical, trip cancellation or interruption, flight or baggage delay, lost baggage, travel accident, or rental car coverage. If you travel, you need a separate travel insurance policy.
Every score is derived from official bank documents: terms and conditions, benefit guides, and claim procedures. No commercial relationship influences our ratings.

This card does not include trip cancellation insurance. If you have to cancel a prepaid, non-refundable trip before departure for a covered reason, nothing is reimbursed — you would need a separate travel insurance policy.
This card does not include out-of-province or out-of-country emergency medical insurance. Hospital and physician costs abroad are not covered, and provincial health plans pay very little outside Canada, so a separate travel medical policy is essential.
This card does not include emergency medical evacuation or repatriation coverage. The cost of an air ambulance or a medically necessary return home is not covered.
This card does not include trip interruption insurance. If a covered event cuts your trip short after departure, the extra cost to return home and the unused prepaid portion of your trip are not reimbursed.
This card does not include flight or trip delay insurance. Meals, accommodation, and essential purchases during a delayed flight are not reimbursed.
This card does not include missed connection coverage. Extra costs caused by missing a connecting flight or departure are not reimbursed.
This card does not include early return coverage. The cost of returning home early for a covered reason is not reimbursed.
This card does not include delayed baggage coverage. Emergency purchases of clothing or toiletries while your checked baggage is delayed are not reimbursed.
This card does not include lost or stolen baggage coverage. The replacement value of luggage and personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged in transit is not covered.
This card does not include common carrier travel accident insurance. There is no accidental death or dismemberment benefit while travelling as a passenger on a plane, train, bus, or boat.
This card does not include hotel or motel burglary coverage. Loss or damage to personal property from a break-in at your accommodation is not covered.
