Strong cancel. No medical, no evacuation. Here is what those gaps cost a Strata Premier cardholder on a real trip. Trip cancellation covers up to $5,000 in Common Carrier costs, but only one reason qualifies: illness, injury, or death of a covered traveler. Weather delays, jury duty, and military orders are not on the list. Hotels and tours are not reimbursable even if non-refundable. Lost luggage adds $3,000 per trip for checked and carry-on bags, but electronics and jewelry are excluded. The medical gap is the exposure that matters. A single ER visit abroad runs $10,000 to $80,000, and an air ambulance from Asia or Latin America can reach $200,000 or more. Standalone travel insurance with medical and evacuation starts at $150 to $300 per trip for most international itineraries. File through Sedgwick at mycardbenefits.com or 1-833-251-6404 within 60 days of the loss.

FlyerTalk Forums
Trip cancellation paid within 3 weeks
Citi paid my trip cancellation claim within 3 weeks of submission. The Sedgwick online portal was clear. I had to cancel due to illness and submitted my doctor's note along with the card statement. No pushback on the documentation.
FlyerTalk Forums
Trip delay covered reasons are extremely narrow
The 6-hour trip delay benefit sounds useful, but the covered reasons are limited in practice. My delay for mechanical issues with vague airline documentation was initially denied. The qualifying causes are stricter than the marketing suggests.
CFPB complaint database
Denied for using Citi miles on flights
Denied because I had used Citi miles to obtain the flights. The literature states you must pay for the trip with the card, but it does not say you cannot use frequent flyer miles to get that benefit. Resolved with monetary relief after CFPB complaint.
